Description

This lot includes three antique arc carbon micro projectors from the 20th century, featuring an English arc lamp by Westminster of London with Patent 9225 1910 marking, a German carbon arc micro projector microscope lamp by Ernst Leitz Wetzlar, and one additional arc microscope lamp by an unidentified maker. Arc carbon lamps create light by producing an electric arc between carbon rod electrodes. These types of lamps were historically used in scientific microscopy, magic lantern projection, demonstrations, and other early optical or illumination applications. The Ernst Leitz Wetzlar example includes a cast iron base with rack and pinion adjustment and clockwork-driven operation. Items are antique and untested. The Leitz microscope lamp is missing the hood with bull’s-eye lens. Carbon rods have not been counted. All pieces show wear, grime, and age-related cosmetic condition consistent with use and age. Includes three boxes of arc carbon rods — see photos for exact condition and completeness.
